Lodging is also available for families arriving at Seymour Johnson. Orders are not required to make reservations. You can also visit to make reservations and check availability online. ![]() Reservations can be made by mail, phone, fax, email or through your sponsor. Reservations should be made in advance and are on a first-come, first serve basis. Lodging Quarters, at Seymour Johnson's Southern Pines Inn, are available by reservation to personnel traveling on official orders. Base maps will also be available upon request. In order to receive a visitor's pass, each individual must have a sponsor and picture identification (driver's license, state identification card). Those in need of a visitors pass will need to stop by the Seymour Johnson Visitor's Center located at the main gate on Berkeley Ave. Seymour Johnson has a 100% identification card check policy. If arriving by ground transportation, please ensure that each family member has appropriate identification. Commercial transportation from the airport is also available. Your sponsor will take you and your family to Lodging or an off-base hotel, depending on your reservations, and lay out the schedule for the next two weeks for you. (NOTE: In the unlikely situation that no one meets you upon arrival, call the Seymour Johnson AFB Command Post at 91 (keep this commercial number handy for your entire tour) or DSN 722-0004 and ask to be connected to your unit's first sergeant. Upon arrival at the RDU passenger terminal, arrangements should have been made to be meet a unit sponsor. The closest major airport to Seymour Johnson is the Raleigh-Durham International Airport located approximately 70 miles northwest of the installation. Seymour Johnson Air Force Base is located approximately 57 miles from Raleigh in Eastern North Carolina's Wayne County. ![]()
